The BAK/Proximity™ Interbody Fusion System consists of both implants and associated implantation instruments. The Proximity™ Implant is a hollow, porous, square-threaded device made of titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V). Seven sizes of implants are available. The Proximity System has completed rigorous FDA clinical studies and is available for anterior open (ALIF), laparoscopic (ALIF) and posterior (PLIF) procedures. The studies have shown high fusion rates, quick pain reduction, rapid functional improvement, and much lower reoperation rates compared to conventional fusion methods.
