ConforMIS, Inc. is a privately held medical device company based in Massachusetts. It was founded in 2004 to provide dramatic advancements in patient care by utilizing imaging technology to create personalized, patient-specific implants and instrumentation.
ConforMIS transforms traditional CT and MR data into patient-specific implants and instrumentation employing two related ‘image-to-implant’ technology platforms:
iFit™ technology converts CT and MR data into implants that are precisely sized and shaped to conform to the unique 3D topography of an individual joint.
iJig™ instrumentation utilizes the same data to create cutting and placement guides that eliminate the need for manual sizing, reduce surgical time and trauma, and improve reproducibility.
Both platforms are supported by proprietary, intellectual property consisting of more than 120 patents and pending patent applications that span imaging software, image processing, implant design, surgical techniques and orthopedic instrumentation. The technology and patent portfolio is applicable to all major joint systems.
To date, ConforMIS has developed a comprehensive line of minimally traumatic implant solutions to address all stages of knee osteoarthritis, the most common reason for knee replacement surgery. Each of these devices has been cleared for marketing by the US Food and Drug Administration.
